Garden Design Services in Dublin

The best gardens aren’t created by throwing in a patio and a few plants and hoping for the best. They start with a plan: where the sun falls, how you want to use the space, what you want to look at from the kitchen window and how much time you want to spend looking after it.

We design gardens for homes across Dublin, from narrow city back gardens to large family plots. We plan the layout, the planting and the materials around your life and your budget, and our team can build it for you, so what’s on paper is what you get.

What Our Garden Design Service Covers

  • Brief and site visit: we look at your garden, take measurements and talk through how you use it, what you want more of and what’s not working now.
  • Layout plan: a clear plan showing where everything goes, including patio, lawn, paths, beds, seating areas and storage.
  • Planting suggestions: plants chosen for your soil, light and exposure, and for how much upkeep you want.
  • Materials and features: advice on paving, edging, fencing and features that suit your house and budget.
  • Budget and phasing: guidance on costs, and on how to split bigger projects into stages if you’d rather spread them out.

Gardens We Design

  • Small and city gardens: clever layouts that make a compact space feel bigger and more useful.
  • Family gardens: space for play, lawn and sitting out, with durable surfaces and safe, simple planting.
  • Low-maintenance gardens: designs that look good all year without constant work.
  • Entertaining spaces: patios and seating areas for dinners, barbecues and long summer evenings.
  • Front gardens: a better first impression, with practical parking and planting that works.
  • New-build gardens: a proper plan for a blank plot, instead of piecing it together over years.
  • Wildlife-friendly gardens: planting that supports bees, butterflies and birds.

Designed for Irish Conditions

A garden that looks great on paper still has to cope with Irish weather. We build these things into every design:

  • Drainage and levels: making sure water runs away from patios and the house, and doesn’t sit on the lawn.
  • Sun, shade and shelter: placing seating where it gets the light, and using planting and fencing to take the edge off the wind.
  • Hardy plants: choosing plants that cope with wet winters and your garden’s conditions, so they thrive instead of struggle.
  • Easy upkeep: sensible lawn shapes, edging and mulched beds that cut down on weeding and mowing time.

Our Design Process

  1. Get in touch: tell us about your garden and what you’d like. Photos and rough measurements help.
  2. Site visit: we walk the garden with you, check the aspect, soil and drainage and discuss your ideas and budget.
  3. Design: we draw up a plan and talk you through it, so you can see how the finished garden will work.
  4. Refine: we adjust the plan based on your feedback until you’re happy with it.
  5. Build: if you’d like us to, our team builds the garden to the plan. Our landscaping service covers the groundwork, paving, lawns and planting.

Design Only, or Design and Build?

It’s up to you. Some people want a plan they can follow themselves or give to another contractor. Others want us to handle everything from the first sketch to the finished garden. Having the same team design and build means fewer misunderstandings, more accurate pricing and a garden that matches the plan.

When Should I Plan My Garden?

Gardens are mostly built in spring and summer, but planning is best done earlier. Autumn and winter are a good time to get the design done, so that you’re ready to start as soon as the weather improves. It also gives you time to think through the plan and budget without rushing into decisions.

How Much Does Garden Design Cost in Dublin?

The cost depends on:

  • The size and complexity of your garden
  • How detailed you want the plan to be
  • Whether you want design only, or design and build
  • Any slopes, drainage problems or access issues to solve

The simplest way to get a clear price is to request a free quote. Tell us about your garden and your budget, and we’ll explain what’s possible and what it would cost.

Why Choose Us

  • Plans that work in real life: designs that take account of drainage, light and how you actually use the space.
  • Practical, not just pretty: we think about upkeep, durability and budget, not just looks.
  • One team, from plan to finished garden: design, build, fencing, hedging and ongoing lawn care.
  • Clear communication: you’ll always know what’s planned, what it costs and what happens next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a garden designer for a small garden?

Small gardens often benefit most from a plan. Every square metre has to work harder, and a good layout can make the space feel larger, more private and much more useful.

Can I use the design without hiring you to build it?

Yes. The design is yours to use however you like. You can build it yourself in stages or hand it to another contractor.

How long does a garden design take?

It depends on the size and detail involved. We’ll give you a timeframe when we’ve seen the garden, and tell you honestly what to expect.

Can you work around my budget?

Yes. Tell us what you’d like to spend and we’ll design to it. If your ideal garden costs more, we can phase the work so you can build it in stages.

Can you design a low-maintenance garden?

Yes. A mix of durable surfaces, hardy planting, mulched beds and neat edging keeps upkeep low. We can also look after the garden for you once it’s finished.

Do I need planning permission for my garden design?

For most garden projects, no. Exceptions can include some work at the front of the house, new vehicle entrances and larger structures. We’ll flag anything that needs checking, and you can always confirm with your local council.

Do you only design, or can you build too?

Both. You can choose design only, or let us build the finished garden through our landscaping service.
