Fencing Services in Dublin

A good fence does a lot of jobs. It marks your boundary, keeps your garden private, keeps pets and children safe, and makes the whole garden look finished. A bad one leans, rots and blows over the first time a storm rolls in.

We install and repair garden fences across Dublin, built properly from the ground up so they stay straight, strong and tidy for years. Whether you need a full new boundary, a few replacement panels or a single gate, we can help.

Fencing Services We Offer

  • New fence installation: full boundary fences for back gardens, side passages and front gardens.
  • Fence replacement: old, rotten or storm-damaged fences taken down and replaced.
  • Fence repairs: broken panels, leaning fences and snapped posts fixed without replacing the whole run.
  • Garden dividers: fences to split a garden into zones, such as a play area, dog run or veg patch.
  • Gates: side gates and garden gates, fitted to hang and close properly.
  • Removal of old fencing: we take down your old fence and take it away.

Fence Types and Materials

The right fence depends on what you want from it. Here are the options we’re asked about most:

  • Timber panel fencing: the most popular choice for back gardens. Affordable, quick to fit and good for privacy.
  • Close board fencing: overlapping vertical boards that make a solid, durable, high-privacy fence.
  • Post and rail fencing: a classic open style for boundaries, front gardens and larger plots.
  • Picket and decorative fencing: lower, neat fences for front gardens and borders.
  • Concrete posts and gravel boards: a long-lasting base that keeps timber off damp ground, so your fence lasts longer in Irish weather.
  • Composite fencing: a low-maintenance option that doesn’t need regular painting or treating.

Built to Handle Irish Weather

Between wind, rain and damp ground, fences in Ireland have a tough life. Most fences fail at the posts, not the panels, so we focus on getting the foundations right:

  • Posts set deep and firm in concrete, then checked for level and line
  • Concrete posts and gravel boards where they make sense, to keep timber away from wet soil
  • Treated timber for panels, rails and boards
  • Fences put up to follow the ground, with neat, even gaps and heights

How It Works

  1. Get in touch: send us your address, a few photos and a rough idea of what you want. For bigger jobs, we’ll call out to measure up.
  2. Clear quote: you get a fixed price covering materials, labour and removal of the old fence, with no surprises.
  3. Prep and removal: we take down the old fence and clear the line.
  4. Installation: we set the posts, fit the panels, rails or boards, and hang any gates.
  5. Tidy-up: we clear all waste and leave your garden clean, so you can enjoy the new fence straight away.

Do I Need Planning Permission for a Fence?

In most cases, no. Under Irish planning rules, a garden fence can usually go up without planning permission if it stays within these height limits:

  • Rear and side of the house: up to 2 metres high
  • Front of the house: up to 1.2 metres high

There are exceptions. For example, your planning permission may have conditions on boundaries, a protected structure may have extra rules, and metal palisade or security fencing is not exempt. If you’re unsure, check with Dublin’s local council, or ask us and we’ll point you in the right direction.

It’s also worth chatting with your neighbour before work starts. Agreeing who owns the boundary and who pays for what avoids awkward conversations later.

How Much Does Fencing Cost in Dublin?

Fencing is priced by the job, because no two gardens are the same. The main factors are:

  • The length and height of the fence
  • The type of fence and materials you choose
  • Whether you want concrete posts and gravel boards
  • Removing and disposing of your old fence
  • Gates and other extras
  • Access and ground conditions, such as slopes, rock or tight side passages

The quickest way to get an accurate price is to request a free quote. Send photos and the approximate length of the fence, and we’ll come back with a clear price.

  • Straight, neat finish: level posts, even panels and clean lines.
  • Fixed, honest quotes: you know the price before we start.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to install a fence?

A typical back garden fence can often be done in a day or two, depending on the length, the ground and whether the old fence needs removing. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe in your quote.

Can you repair my fence instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the posts are sound, we can replace damaged panels or boards and re-secure leaning sections. If the posts are rotten, replacing the whole run usually saves money in the long run, and we’ll tell you honestly which makes sense.

Do you remove my old fence?

Yes. We can take down your old fence and take it away as part of the job.

How long will a timber fence last?

It depends on the quality of the timber, the foundations and how it’s looked after. Concrete posts and gravel boards, treated timber and an occasional coat of timber treatment all help it last longer.

Can you put up a fence on a slope?

Yes. Sloped gardens just need a bit more planning, as the fence can be stepped or raked to follow the ground. Send us a photo and we’ll recommend the best approach.

Can you fit a gate as well?

Yes. We can fit new gates with the fence, or add a gate to an existing one.

Do I need to be at home during the work?

Not necessarily, as long as we can access the garden. We’ll always agree timings with you beforehand.
